CAIC SoCal

Grand View Elementary is celebrating an exciting achievement in innovation and creativity after fifth grade student Jackson Wookey earned a Merit Award at this year’s California Invention Convention (CAIC) SoCal competition for his invention, Wakey Wakey.

Competing alongside more than 650 young inventors from across Southern California, students participating in the California Invention Convention are challenged to identify real-world problems and develop creative, innovative solutions through research, design, and presentation. The competition encourages students to think critically, problem-solve creatively, and bring their ideas to life through hands-on learning.

Jackson’s recognition is an impressive accomplishment in a highly competitive field and reflects the curiosity, perseverance, and innovation that students bring to learning every day.

Congratulations to Jackson on this exciting achievement and for representing Grand View so well. We also extend our appreciation to the science specialists, teachers, and families who support students throughout the invention process and help foster a love of creativity, innovation, and discovery. Opportunities like these are made possible through the continued support of MBEF and our school community.
