Math Kangaroo

Grand View Elementary is celebrating an exciting accomplishment in mathematics after fifth grade student Olivia P. earned recognition as a National Winner in this year’s Math Kangaroo competition — an internationally recognized mathematics competition focused on creative problem-solving and critical thinking.

On March 19, students from across MBUSD participated in the competition hosted by the MBMS Math Club at Manhattan Beach Middle School. This year, more than 60,500 students participated across the United States, joining over 6 million students worldwide in taking on engaging and challenging math problems designed to promote logical thinking, perseverance, and creativity.

Math Kangaroo encourages students to think beyond traditional classroom mathematics by solving complex, logic-based problems in a timed environment. Through opportunities like these, students strengthen problem-solving skills while building confidence and curiosity in mathematics.

Congratulations to Olivia on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing Grand View with excellence. We also extend our appreciation to the teachers, families, and staff members who continue supporting students in pursuing academic challenges and discovering new passions through learning.
